Here is an original stock certificate book for the DeLong Gum Company, featuring a total of 23 unissued certificates, as well as five more that appear to have been issued, and subsequently were marked "NOT VALID" in blue crayon. DeLong Gum was named after Harold C. DeLong, a former Goudey employee who left to start his own competing gum-card company. Unfortunately, the DeLong Gum Company managed to only put out a single 24-card set during its short existence. At present, very few remnants, aside from some cards, exist of DeLong Gum, which makes this stock certificate book a rare find indeed. The hardcover book includes hand-written notes on the inside cover.  Several of the certificates were issued to DeLong himself in the winter and spring of 1933, including the very first certificate (which is not included in the book, though the receipt is), for 200 shares issued to Harold DeLong on February 1.  DeLong's signature appears three times on recipes, and nine more times on the invalid certificates (though four are obliterated with blue crayon).  A fascinating piece of hobby history.
