Undated handwritten letter signed by former lineal World Heavyweight Champion, James Corbett. Understood as the very first "man who beat the man," Corbett defeated John L. Sullivan on September 7, 1892 by knockout in the 21st round to capture the heavyweight title. Corbett has penned the offered undated document in black steel-tip fountain pen and signed at the bottom. The notepaper on which his correspondence has been written is especially delicate at several folds throughout and those areas are in danger of separating if not handled with care. This document, penned to his doctor regarding a stolen knee, has been folded in half with Corbett's signature shown on the interior, as illustrated in the second provided image. Presents in VG condition overall with a heavy crease at center and obvious areas where paper has separated at the folds. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
