On September 7, 1892 heavyweight James Corbett defeated John L. Sullivan by knockout in the 21st round to become heavyweight World Champion. Understood as the very first "man who beat the man," Corbett has handwritten and signed the presented document dated April 15, 1893, only seven months subsequent to his historic victory over Sullivan. Presented on Detroit Michigan's Hotel Cadillac letterhead, Sullivan's penmanship in black steel tip fountain pen is impeccable and remains highly attractive against the 130 year-old paper. Light toning and fold separations are present along the edges with the overall condition appearing VG. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
