Leroy Robert "Satchel" Paige greets a visitor in the Cleveland Indians dugout sometime during 1948-49 in this original Type 1 photograph. The visitor is track and field star Harrison Dillard who earned the moniker of "World's Fastest Man" in 1948 and "World's Fastest Hurdler" in 1952 after capturing gold medals at the Olympic Games. Research has revealed that Dillard, a lifelong Clevelander was hired by the Indians front office in 1949 and served in their PR department for many years. Photo remains highly presentable with both men well illuminated in the image by what appears to be flash photography. Satchel Paige has signed this photo in blue ballpoint across his right shoulder and some light, unobtrusive creasing is present. Handwritten notations appear on verso erroneously identifying Dillard as "Jesse Owens" though this was subsequnetly crossed out and Dillard ID'd appropriately. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photo with authentic signature by PSA/DNA.
