On July 17, 1925, the visiting Cincinnati Reds shut out the host Brooklyn Robins, 4-0, at Ebbets Field. Cincy was led to victory by the hot bat of center fielder Edd Rousch who collected four hits, scored two runs and drove in one run. On the mound, Rube Benton pitched a complete game to notch his sixth win of the season. Featured here is a “Ebbets Field Official Score Card” from the game, which lasted just one hour and 26 minutes long before 5,000 fans. Measuring approximately 6" x 9", the scorecard shows an artist’s rendering of Ebbets Field sharing equal space on the cover with Reid’s Ice Cream, a local advertiser who sold ice cream on site at Ebbets Field. What’s more is that this official scorecard’s cover also celebrates the team’s Golden Jubilee (1876 to 1925). Inside you’ll find the facing lineups of both the Reds and Robins with each scorecard filled out accurately over nine innings. Surrounding the game’s statistical details are vintage advertisements from the period including Chesterfield Cigarettes, Bayuk Cigars and the Schumm & Snyder Hat Shop. Overall condition is very good with the original two staples still holding the Saddle Stitched booklet together. Original price: five cents.
