In the 1927 World Series, the fabled Bronx Bombers squared off against the Pittsburgh Pirates. After four games, the verdict was in: the Yankees won their second Fall Classic by sweeping the Pirates. Babe Ruth (.400 BA, seven RBI) and Lou Gehrig (.308, four RBI) provided the offensive fireworks for New York. This lot features an actual 1927 World Series program with both managers taking center stage via portrait pics on the cover: Miller Huggins (NY) and Owen J. Bush (PIT) Produced by Harry M. Stevens, Publisher, the program measures 9 1/2" x 11" and includes lineup cards of both teams and a host of regional advertisers including Old Gold Cigarettes, Between the Acts Cigars, and Chesterfield Cigarettes. Creases and scuffs are visible on the cover and the top portion of the spine has been reinforced with clear tape. Some tiny edge tears are also evident. The inside pages remain in good condition, the game unscored. Original price: 25 cents.
