July 3, 1943 letter written by Washington president Clark Griffith to Seattle Rainiers manager Bill Skiff, addressed to "Friend Skiff."  Another letter regarding a possible trade (it's amazing to think that these discussions were held by wire and written letter, as they are done instantaneously by phone and text message today), this time for Seattle pitcher Dick Barrett.  At 35 years of age, Barrett posted an excellent record of 27-13 with a microscopic ERA of 1.72 for the 1942 Rainiers, earning him Minor League Player of the Year honors.  He was drafted by the Cubs, but did not get off to a good start and was subsequently returned to Seattle.  Philadelphia saw an opportunity, and Barrett was quickly traded to the Phillies for cash - he wound up pitching three productive years there, before returning to the PCL.

The letter is in VG condition with some edge wear, a few creases (in addition to the mailing folds), and some corner folds.  Griffith's signature is a bit long in the tooth here, a little shaky and thin, but legible.  Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
