Particularly sought after by vintage photo collectors, contact prints offer the highest possible image quality as the negative was placed directly onto the photographic paper for development. Offered is one such example featuring an image from the lens of Charles Martin Conlon himself. Though it is a 5" x 7" print the central image consists of a 4" x 5" portrait image of Cleveland outfielder and 1920 World Series champion, Jack Graney. Above Graney's cap remains Conlon's notations that were applied to the original glass negative. A touch of typical wear from storage is apparent to the corners while sharpness of the image and tonal clarity remain understandably superb. Verso displays Charles Conlon's personal credit stamping at center and his handwritten identifier of Graney at the top. Evidence of tape residue is also present close to the top edge. This photo is fresh to the hobby and originates from the archives of Photo File, Inc. where it has remained for several decades until the time of this sale. Authenticated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
