Attractive 15" x 20" cardboard advertising display sign featuring Ted Williams, surrounded by Sam Davis illustrations celebrating highlights of Ted Williams' 1946 season.  The piece originates from the collection of noted hobbyist Ted Patterson, where it was displayed on the floor of his basement bar.  Sadly, one afternoon in 2018 or so, we were visiting Ted and discovered that the HVAC unit in his basement had begun leaking, a situation of which Ted had been unaware.  Though the leak was slow, the carpet on which the sign rested had become wet, and gradually soaked into the sign.  Ted sent the sign out for professional restoration, which involved inpainting in various spots on the sign, particularly in the bottom-left corner where the staining was, and stabilization by mounting on foam core.  The sign is wrapped in a heavy cellophane holder, the sheen of which can be seen along the edges of the photo.  Despite the restoration, the piece presents extremely well, the inpainting minor, representing only approximately 10-15% of the piece.  An exceptional advertising display sign.
