Following on the heels of the ultra-difficult ultra-puzzling W502 set of 1928 came a virtually identical set in 1931. Also classified in the ACC as W502 the 1931 issue features the same design as the 1928 issue (and in some cases player selection) with the identical baseball game plays printed on the card backs. Both of these cards of Hall of Famers Red Faber and Pie Traynor have been graded VG/EX 50 by SGC but present far superior to the assigned grade. In the case of the Traynor the grade is attributable to a small crease on the reverse that does not traverse through to the front of the card. In the case of the Faber mild corner wear is the likely culprit. In both cases however the cards present as EX/MT cards. Two Hall of Famers from a very scarce and challenging issue.
