The 1928 W502 issue is a difficult set to complete filled with the kind of unsolved mysteries that are a challenge to the advanced collector. Scarce in any condition with a host of back variations it is unknown even how these cards were distributed. The card faces which resemble the ice cream issues of 1928 are black and white portrait or action images with the player name and card number printed underneath. On the reverse are printed baseball "plays" and instructions that would indicate that the cards were meant to be used to play a baseball game. Printed on the back are "ONE BAGGER " "ONE BAGGER-Hold What You Got " "THREE BAGGER" with or without a prize redemption or "HOME RUN" with or without a prize redemption. W502s with blank backs are as plentiful as W502s with printed backs leading some to believe that the blank-backed varieties are actually a part of a different set and others to believe that the blank backs merely represent "outs" in the game. To add another level of scarcity the orientation of the printing on the "ONE BAGGER - Hold What You Got" backs can be found either top-to-bottom on the card or bottom-to-top.Presented is the W502 card of Hall of Fame pitcher Urban "Red" Faber graded NM+ 86 by SGC. This is the only example of this card to achieve this grade and none have graded higher with either SGC or PSA. W502s are tough cards and extremely difficult to obtain in high grade (indeed only ten examples of any card in the set have graded higher from both grading companies combined. A beautiful card from a difficult set in a one-of-a-kind grade.Population Data:SGC Population: 12 total graded 1 at this level none higherPSA Population: 4 total graded none at this level none higher
