Pitcher Charlie Robertson appeared in just one game for the 1919 White Sox taking a loss and giving up two earned runs in just two innings as a starter. A "shine ball" pitcher Robertson was not part of the 1919 World Series roster who returned to the team in 1922 after two seasons in Minneapolis with the Millers. On April 30 against the Detroit Tigers Robertson pitched a perfect game at that point just the third in history. Robertson's gem had an extra challenge however - since the game was sold out the Navin Field crowd overflowed onto the field itself with the ground rule being that any ball hit into the crowd was automatically ruled a double. That day the Tigers hit only five balls out of the infield just one coming close to the crowd. The signature has been applied in blue ballpoint Robertson's name and the date "1919" typewritten at the top of the card. The date 4-30-71 has been written in blue ink on the card as well. Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA the card has been given a grade of MINT 9.
