Attractive red white and blue ticket stub from Game 4 of the 1943 World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees at Sportsman's Park in St. Louis. The patriotic coloring is no accident; the US involvement in World War II was in full swing. The game was won by the Yankees who wound up winning both games in St. Louis to take the Series in five games. Frankie Crosetti's sac fly in the eighth inning made the difference giving the Yankees' Mario Russo the win over Harry Breechen. The stub is well-worn with noticeable wear at the corners and edges a few spots of paper loss along with a tear at the top edge that makes its way down into the graphic area on the ticket. Despite this the ticket displays well.
