Spectacular large-format photographic print featuring the World Champion 1920 Cleveland Indians as photographed by Louis Van Oeyen. Photo includes Hall of Famers Tris Speaker Stan Covaleski and Joe Sewell along with Smoky Joe Wood and an inset photo of Ray Chapman who was killed during the season. Framed to a massive finished size of 41" x 28 1/2" the piece resides in a vintage frame that is likely not original to the piece with what appears to be a plexiglass face. The display quality is tremendous as the piece is simply huge some wrinkling and slight soiling and foxing visible on the face along with some scuffs and stains all of which are very minor. The photographer is identified with a copyright within the body of the photo and the logo of the Cleveland-based "Postergraph Company" appears in the lower-right corner. Only the third piece of this nature that we have encountered in the hobby certainly the first we have ever sold we believe it to be likely that these were presentation pieces given to the players as its rarity is indicative of not having been available commercially and its size certainly came at an extraordinary expense during the years preceeding the Depression. A wonderful piece.
