Spectacular 5 1/4" x 7 1/2" photo picturing Ty Cobb posed at the batting cage awaiting his turn at bat. A quick glance at the photo reveals nothing too dramatic but a closer look at Cobb's hand on the bat handle reveals a secret message that Cobb was sending to the photographer - and perhaps to everyone looking at the photo. Cobb flipping the bird! The clarity of this photo is such that one can view the barrel of his bat under magnification and clearly read the Ty Cobb signature brand in his Louisville Slugger; the detail throughout the rest of the photo is similar. The slug is no longer attached but is included with the photo a remnant of the photo as it appeared in a newspaper still attached to the reverse. Aside from the typical signs of use a very minor tear appears at the top edge extremely difficult to see. A wonderful photo one of the finest we have seen of Cobb during the tail end of his legendary career.
