May 25 1922 New York Times midweek pictorial depicting two large photos of Babe Ruth returning from his suspension. Ruth was famously suspended by Judge Landis in late 1921 for breaking a rule along with teammate Bob Meusel forbidding players who participated in the World Series from offseason barnstorming. Ruth was openly defiant against Landis who rendered the decision in late 1921 that Meusel and Ruth would both forfeit their full $3 500 World Series shares and miss the first six weeks of the 1922 season. The cover of this pictorial (which also features a photo of the Browns' Kenneth Williams) documents Ruth's return. In fair condition quite fragile with obvious edge and surface wear but also exhibiting incredible display characteristics. A wonderful piece.
