An exceptional quality image of Hall of Fame first baseman Dan Brouthers one of the most popular players of his time and an image that is closely associated with the N172 Old Judge issue due to its use in the company"s advertising for the cards. This example one of three poses of Brouthers in front of a backdrop made to look like a baseball field is cataloged as #43-2 in The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Company with the Detroit team designation (this pose can also be found listing Brouthers with Boston of the National League as well as Boston of the Player"s League.Merely graded GOOD 30 by SGC this is an outstanding example of how image quality is not taken into account as much as less significant technical details when it comes to N172s. The blank reverse of the card contains several creases and light stains while said wear is hardly visible on the front. What is visible however is the striking contrast and quality of the photo something not as common with this issue.Population DataSGC Population: 53 total graded 5 at this level 24 higher*PSA Population: 4 total graded 1 at this level 2 higher*Note that SGC"s population reports for N172 cards factor all the different poses into consideration so it is unknown how few of this particular pose/team combination they have graded.
