Dated to 1936 the year of Owens" legendary triumphs in the summer Olympics in Germany the photo depicts Owens in his Ohio sweatshirt. Owens won four Gold medals in the Olympics in Berlin an event Hitler had hoped would illustrate the superiority of Aryans over other races. Handwriting on the reverse of the photo indicates it was taken at Marquette stadium in June of 1936 just two months prior to the famous Olympic performance.
