Of the four Mathewson poses featured in the T206 issue it is the portrait that is often cited as being most captivating to collectors. Set against a bright orange background the card is certainly his most colorful among the four the detail in the portrait particularly clear. This example has been graded VG 3 by PSA despite a noticeable crease traversing the center of the card; it is the eye appeal that helps the card receive a higher grade than many creased cards would attain.
