Spectacular period album consisting of 8 3/4" x 5 1/2" pages constructed of heavy board with gold edges. Each page contains two handmade CdV-sized images set inside frames carved out of the gold board each depicting a different Civil War General. The piece as a whole has been worn with age with pages pulling apart from one another - clearly at some point these pages were part of a larger book of some sort and while some of the pages are still attached at the spine others are completely detached. Generals included are: Jefferson Davis Robert E. Lee Stonewall Jackson Leonidas Polk James Longstreet J.E.B. Stuart Sterling Price John C. Pemberton P.G.T. Beauregard Simon B. Buckner John B. Magruder Braxton Bragg Edward Johnson and Joseph E. Johnston. Each black and white image has been mounted inside its individual frame inside the book using some sort of paste a very attractive presentation resembling a photo album.
