Dated December 19 1861 this letter has been written and signed by Schuyler Colfax Speaker of the House under Abraham Lincoln from 1863-1869 and Vice President between 1869-1873 under Ulysses S. Grant. The letter has been carefully stored inside a larger sheet of paper labeling Colfax as a member of the 34th Congress (Colfax in 1861 was a representative from Indiana). In wonderful condition though the handwriting leaves something to be desired the signature itself is clear and legible. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
