Produced by the Williams Caramel Co of Oxford PA the E103 set is a blank-backed set of just 30 cards featuring portrait images of players set on regal red backgrounds with the player"s name position and team elegantly typeset along the bottom along with the Williams Caramel name. A very difficult set to complete due to the scarcity of its cards E103 cards are in high demand among prewar and caramel collectors. These cards along with several other more high-profile cards from the set that will be featured in our Spring auction were consigned to us out of an original owner collection of tobacco and strip cards from the late 1800s and early 1900s. These two of Harry Davis and David Jones have been graded POOR 10 by SGC partially due to significant wear and also due to the owner stamp on the reverse: William Born stamped many of his cards as was a common practice among turn of the century collectors. Two very interesting and difficult to obtain cards fresh to the hobby from an original owner collection.
