All hobby eyes have been on the rapid ascension of higher-grade Mickey Mantle cards over the past year. As the 1952 card has seen record prices realized his subsequent cards have similarly benefited particularly in the case of higher-grade examples. With 1953 Topps issues in PSA 7 flirting with five-figure territory collectors have begun looking to his 1953 Bowman issue as an alternative. The 1953 Bowman color set is considered by many to be the most beautiful baseball card issue ever produced led by the wonderful #59 card of Mickey Mantle. The youthful slugger is depected at the end of his swing gazing upward as if following the trajectory of a long fly ball. The blue sky and light towers in the background offset the image of Mantle one of the set's most memorable photos. Graded NM 7 by PSA this example is slightly off-center with the trademark rough-cut left and right edges that simultaneously lend a bit of a ragged appearance while helping instill confidence that the card is unaltered and naturally cut. An outstanding card of one of the hobby's hottest names.
