A member of the Pittsburgh Pirates "Old Guard " 21-year-old infielder Tommy Leach accompanied teammates Honus Wagner Fred Clarke Rube Waddell and Deacon Phillipe from the Louisville Colonels in moving to the Pirates in 1900 with new owner Barney Dreyfuss. Leach would remain a fixture in the Pirates infield for the next decade before being traded to the Cubs in 1912.
