Long an established star by 1948 (our printed catalog incorrectly identifies this postcard as being from Musial's rookie year) Cardinals outfielder Stan Musial was on his way to another stellar year in which he would hit .376 with 39 home runs and 131 RBI. Mailed directly from St. Louis on August 26 of 1948 the Cardinals swept two games of a twinbill against the Giants that day winning 7-2 and 7-5. Musial went 1-for-5 with an RBI in the first game 1-for-4 with his 32nd home run and two RBI in the second. The signature is on a piece of cut stationery with a postmark on the reverse of 8/26/48 likely mailed on that date and trimmed down to a smaller size by the original collector. The signature is bold and clean in fantastic condition likely signed and mailed on a day in 1948 in which "Stan The Man" hit a home run.
