Binghamton Triplets manager and former infielder Bruno Betzel offers advice to a team batboy or young fan on this outstanding card from the rare Crowley's Milk issue of 1940. Its SGC FR 1.5 grade reflects a spot that carries through on each surface, perhaps even a splash of the product itself, as well as a former 50-cent price from earlier (much earlier) days of our hobby. Based on the mimeographed messages from other cards in this set, they really did use Bruno's handwritten message to "Filbert" and signature as their model for this card, making it a special artifact of that time and place. The SGC population report shows just three Betzel cards graded for this set, so rarity will drive interest far beyond its technical grade, considering how hard it proves to find this minor league team set and its players.
