While long appreciated by fans more than Cooperstown voters, Orestes Minoso (finally) received Hall of Fame induction via the Golden Days Era Committee. He starred in almost as many leagues as have existed, from the Cuban Leagues to Negro Leagues and on to the post-integration Major Leagues, and took occasional at-bats in minor league games through 2003, becoming the first man to appear in pro ball acrss seven decades! This "pre-rookie" dates well ahead of 1952 Bowman #5 and shows youthful, pensive Minoso in the extremely condition-sensitive Caramelo Deportivo issue. Its thin stock left cards vulnerable to all sorts of damage, including the surface scuff, edge chip, and back foxing that merit this SGC GOOD 2. It remains an outstanding and desirable example of this star's first known card!
