This SGC FR 1.5 grade for Raleigh's so-called "King" Kelly follows from a vertical crease along his profile, some surface foxing on each side, and slightly rounded corners. The unusual image retains interest, as it's rare to find flights of stairs on player photos. The fact that Kelly of Raleigh borrowed this "King" nickname in 1910 makes it somewhat tougher to locate his full name in baseball records! His card proves scarce indeed, as combined population reports show just one at SGC and two more at PSA!

This black-and-white, 200+ card T209 "photo series" set stands out as one of the largest ever featuring minor league players, yet is obscure enough to be rarely seen or discussed. Love of the Game is excited to offer a sizable number of singles in this auction, freshly graded and new to the hobby. (If these photos originate with the teams themselves, we're also looking at contemporary stadiums and grandstands from that era.)
