When pitcher Joba Chamberlain broke in with the New York Yankees in 2007, he did so with much fanfare.  Before that season began, Baseball America ranked Chamberlain as the fifth best prospect in the Yankees Organization. Based on his performance in Single AZ and AA, he was named to the US team in the 2007 All-Star Futures Game, and by August, he had made his debut with the Yankees. By 2009, Chamberlain was elevated to the starting rotation, at just 23 years old posting a 9-6 record with a 4.75 ERA in his first (and only) season used exclusively as a starter. In the 2009 World Series, Chamberlain appeared in three games, pitching three innings and getting the win in Game 4.

Presented here is a Rawlings 1000-12KB pro model glove dating to that 2009 season. The glove shows excellent evidence of use, with moderate wear in the pocket, webbing, and throughout the glove. "Chamberlain 62" (referring to his uniform number) is embroidered in white thread in the back of the thumb. In outstanding condition, with supple black leather, with the year code EAES branded on the back of the pinky finger sleeve. Based on images from 2009, PSA/DNA confirms Chamberlain used this same model glove, including in the 2009 World Series. An outstanding relic from a much-heralded Yankees pitching prospect and 10-year major leaguer. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
