Pitcher "Count" Charlie Weber pitched for the Sioux City Cornhuskers in 1889 and appears on five different N172 cards, including two batting poses. What we consider his major league career was a single game for the Washington Senators (a loss), with more runs than innings and two hit batsmen. He returned to famliar C-league baseball thereafter, no doubt finding more success.
The PSA VG 3 grade shows a pleasing image with good depth, detail, and near-perfect text on the nameplate. Centering is a touch westward, with solid borders and slightly rounded corners. A bit of pink haze on its reverse implies this card came into contact with colored pages, perhaps as part of an album. The combined population reports show seven graded examples, with just two higher! This will be especially appealing to collectors who focus on photo intensity and quality.
This card appears as #482-2's reference image on page 422 of the Old Judge book by Miller, Gonsowski, and Masson. Love of the Game is proud to offer several cards seen in their outstanding work of research and presentation as part of our 100+ N172 listings.
