The five poses Joe Werrick struck for his N172 cards are worth looking through in sequence, as they demonstrate how seriously he must have taken that photo session. This high stretch fielding pose is also Joe's only variation, as the Old Judge editor added a small "St. Paul" tag to his jersey when Werrick headed there for 1889-90.

This SGC AUTH grade reflects some tight cropping around on each edge of card, likely when an earlier collector trimmed it down to the essential photo and nameplate. If it received a number grade, the corner rounding and surface specks could also figure in. Combined population reports show at least three "St. Paul" examples graded, none higher than EX 5. This card will be of particular interest to N172 variation collectors.
