Sharp example of #297-7, depicting pitcher Mike Mattimore reclined and reaching for a base that's just out of view to the left. A lovely N172 card with a strong and well-contrasted central image. It's of particular interest to horizontal Old Judge collectors, as those form their own subset of sorts. Mattimore appears on an amazing 11 different N172 poses, and ten of them, including this one, show his team as either New York or Philadelphia. 

The SGC VG-EX 4 grade reflects good centering, a superior image, and light, balanced corner wear. Small marks on the reverse impact its technical grade without detracting from our focus on the high-quality front. Combined population reports show six total graded examples, with just one SGC rated higher!
