Historically important Rawlings Official Major League (Selig) baseball, signed and inscribed on the sweet spot by George "Shotgun" Shuba. The inscription reads as follows:

Handshake for the Century
April 18, 1946
George "Shotgun" Shuba

The inscription refers, of course, to Shuba's greeting of Jackie Robinson at home plate after Jackie homered in the first integrated professional game. A full year before Robinson's major league debut, he homered with Shuba in the on deck circle for the Montreal Royals. Shuba greeted Robinson with a congratulatory handshake, photos of which became symbolic of baseball's integration for decades to come. The inscription is boldly placed on the sweet spot, the baseball is clean, and the writing is legible. Basic cert from James Spence Authentication.
