Group of 18 original photos from the personal collection of former Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher, Clyde King. Taken by official Brooklyn Dodgers photographer, Barney Stein, these images hail from March of 1947 as the Dodgers and Montreal Royals trained in Havana, Cuba. Significantly, Jackie Robinson was still in camp with Montreal, not the Dodgers, at this time, having shattered professional baseball's color line the previous season when he debuted for the Montreal Royals on April 18, 1946 at Roosevelt Stadium in NJ. Jackie would then be promoted to the Brooklyn Dodgers just five days before start of the 1947 regular season, famously integrating Major League Baseball on Opening Day, April 15, 1947, at Ebbets Field.
