The SGC FR 1.5 grade shows somewhat lighter image tone than seen on other cards offered from this set, perhaps due to light exposure. Yellow marks on the back imply it was mounted in an album at one point and also shows an angled mark on its front lower right. While corners, edges, and centering would all suit a higher score, scarcity drives more of its appeal, as the SGC population report shows just five graded!
1924-25 Aguilitas cards followed a burst of interest in winter league baseball from tobacco companies that generated several Cuban card issues. They feature real player photos and were attached to backings, leaving them somewhat more vulnerable to fading and handling damage than more conventional cardboard sets. They can retain beautiful detail and document a number of players from that era who don't appear on many cards or photos. Love of the Game is pleased to offer several cards from this set as part of our larger offering of Cuban issues.
