1934 Type I photo of Babe Ruth taking batting practice on Opening Day at Shibe Park in Philadelphia. At this stage of his career the Bambino's skills may have diminished but his legend certainly had not. A keen eye will spot in the background nearly the entire Philadelphia Athletics' roster outside of their dugout to catch a glimpse of the greatest slugger in the history of the game. 7" x 9" original news service photo remains in excellent overall condition with some obvious but unobtrusive creasing at the lower-right corner. An original paper caption hailing Ruth as "The King of Swat" remains affixed to verso at the top, with credit stamping from the Associated Press at the center below.
