Al himself proved an effective starter for Boston's moribund 1909-10 franchises, where "effective" means he almost reached a .500 W/L record. He threw in almost 100 games total, wihich likely ruined his arm's chance at a longer career. It's fortunate that T206 captured his high-collar look of a commodore for us to remember him by.

The PSA EX+ 5.5 grade reflects its bright background, clean surfaces, and lightly touched corners. An overall pleasing look that portraits excel at presenting to the viewer. The population report shows that this already ranks in the top fifth for graded Mattern Piedmont cards. A close look at its left edge shows a slight offset to the yellow ink pass, which might be all holding it back from even higher scores.
