Pitcher and outfielder Jose Acostica (aka Acosta) logged a decade of pro play in several leagues prior to this 1923-24 winter league season, with three on pre-integration MLB squads that included light-skinned Latin players. His MLB pitching record with the White Sox and Senators was an even 10-10, but his complete career included 400+ decisions at all levels.
The SGC VG-EX 4 grade reflects a print tilt, slight corner rounding, and fingerprints from handling by an earlier collector. The tilt is often seen in this set and might reflect its fast, low-cost production. Cards from this 1923-24 set often show handling damage when left unprotected, so most mid-grade examples stand out among the best known from what survives today. Just seven cards appear on the combined SGC/PSA population reports, with two graded higher! Love of the Game is proud to offer many of this Cuban set's top cards.
