The second of a three-year run of baseball cards featuring PCL players, that were distributed inside popcorn boxes at the concession stands at Lane Field Park, then home of the San Diego Padres. The cards were printed on thin stock, the checklist occasionally including multiple poses of its players. Due to the regional nature of their distribution, the set was weighted heavily towards San Diego players. The cards issued in 1950 were all printed in black and white, and while some of the cards are blank-backed, many include an advertisement and brief biographical or career highlights.
George Bamberger married the Milwaukee Brewers in the late '70s and mid 1980s, and was the manager of the New York Mets just before Davey Johnson ushered in that team's championship era. This example pictures him as a 26-year-old pitcher with the Oakland Oaks. Though the card has been graded POOR 1 by SGC, the bulk of the wear appears on the reverse, with both writing and scrapbook remnants apparent.
