Stunning 11" x 14" Type I photograph depicting the 1952 Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field. Jackie Robinson, who integrated major league baseball in 1947, sits fifth from the left in the middle row. Joining him are five additional future Hall of Famers in Roy Campanella, Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese, Duke Snider, and Dick Williams with their Dodgers teammates. Brooklyn nearly secured a National League pennant the prior year, famously dropping the final game of the regular season to the Giants thanks to Bobby Thompson's "Shot Heard 'Round the World." In 1952 the Dodgers left no doubt, winning the National League pennant over those same Giants by four games. Here, the Dodgers pose with a banner displaying the words "1952 Brooklyn Dodgers National League Champions" prior to heading into the World Series against the hated New York Yankees. Photo has endured in excellent overall condition with typical handling wear generally only visible while either surface is tilted to a source of light. Residue from three small strips of tape can be found at the top edge which can easily be matted out if the photo were to be framed. Clean, bright-white verso remains blank throughout. A fresh to the hobby example hailing from the collection of former Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher, Clyde King. Authenticated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA and includes their full LOA.
