The second of three Babe Ruth cards from the 1933 Goudey set to derive its design from the same photo, this "Red Ruth" is essentially the same artwork as the #53 "Yellow Ruth," simply with a red background instead of yellow, and also a waist-up illustration derived from the #144 card that pictures a full-body image of Ruth. This example has been graded GOOD 2 by SGC but is quire remarkable for the grade, well-centered with rich coloration. Corner and edge softness are apparent, with some age-related discoloration along the left border contributing to the technical grade. The verso exhibits uneven, but light toning. Overall an extremely strong example for the grade, one of Ruth's most popular cards from the most important of all sets from the gum card era.
