Superb 7" x 9" Type I photo of perhaps the greatest catcher in the history of the game, Johnny Bench. According to dated paper caption on verso the image was released for publication on 11/18/1970, the day the twenty-two-year-old future Hall of Famer was honored with his first of two National League MVP Awards. Attractive portrait of the young Bench was taken during Game 1 of the 1970 World Series where the Big Red Machine was ultimately bested by the Baltimore Orioles over five games. A noticeably clean and bright photo with visible toning to perimeter of verso where a later date stamp and a handwritten notation appear. Authenticated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA and includes their full LOA.
