Representing 2,048 lifetime home runs in a single image, this original Type I photograph features four of baseball's greatest sluggers as they posed for photographers sometime between 1929 and 1930. Presumably captured at Shibe Park in Philadelphia, the New York Yankees one-two punch of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig stand in their away flannels while shaking hands with fellow future Hall of Famers Jimmie Foxx and Al Simmons in their Philadelphia Athletics home whites. By this time the Yankees had secured World Series titles with both Ruth and Gehrig on the roster in 1927 and 1928 but Simmons and Foxx would turn the tables, capturing World Series championships of their own in 1929 and 1930, adding another American League pennant in 1931. Beautiful fresh to the hobby 8" x 10" example only displays faint creasing to the extreme lower-left corner and a small wrinkle between Simmons and Ruth at the top edge. Otherwise, a very clean, highly attractive photo of the four powerful superstars with white borders flanking them on three sides. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
