Following on the heels of the ultra-difficult and ultra-puzzling W502 set of 1928 came a virtually identical set in 1931. Also classified in the ACC as W502, the 1931 issue features the same design as the 1928 issue (and in some cases, the same player selection) with the identical baseball game plays printed on the card backs. Significantly more scarce than the 1928 issue, high-grade examples are virtually impossible to find.

Eugene Hargrave is the subject of the example offered here, graded VG 3 by SGC. Centering is northeast on the canvas. Corners and edges are nicer than the grade, though some soiling at the top edge keeps the card from grading even higher than it has. This example features a "One Bagger" back. The scarcity of this issue far outweighs any cosmetic flaws on this example.

This is the only example SGC has ever graded of this 1931 W502 of Eugene Hargrave.

Edited to add: thanks to the astute collector who was kind enough to let us know we had our Hargraves mixed up, and this card did not picture Pinky Hargrave, but his brother Bubbles!
