This extremely scarce issue was the first of two baseball card sets produced by Los Angeles confectioner
Bishop & Co. and featured five players from each of the six teams in the Pacific Coast League in 1910.
This is the first time we have ever offered an example of San Francisco's Henry Melchoir, regardless of the background color, but this one is presented on the beautiful light blue. Centering is slightly east on the canvas. Two pinholes at the top center of the card punch through to the back, while some creasing in the top left corner and soiling along the left edge keep the card from grading higher. The reverse - which is a checklist of the 30 total
cards of the set - exhibits some heavy paper loss, which further explains the card's technical grade. However, the scarcity of this issue far outweighs any cosmetic flaws on this example.
PSA has only ever graded 7 total
examples of this E99, with only five receiving a higher grade than the Poor 1 offered here of San Francisco's Henry Melchoir.
