Large and heavy silver-plated serving tray manufactured by Webster Wilcox and presented by a Youth Development Foundation to Al Kaline in 1970. Measuring 23" x 17" with the handles extending the width an additional five inches, the engraving found directly in the center of the tray, reading "Al Kaline - Sports Call to Greatness - Youth Development Foundation - 1970". Ornate design flourishes ring the engraving.
Wilcox silver plate trays are widely collected today, with designs featured in several museum exhibitions and art museums. In 2014, a Paul Lobel design tea seat for Wilcox Silver Plate Co. sold for $377,000 at auction. And while this may not be worth that much, we don't see Mr. Tiger's name on any tea set. Outstanding condition, quite a heavy piece.
