1912 saw two distinct issues from Collins-McCarthy, with Home Run
Kisses
being the toughest of the two by far. These cards are wildly
attractive, sporting a "satin"
finish of a sepia player photo inside a beautifully ornate border
design. Since the cards were intended to be redeemed for "valuable
premiums," they are quite scarce today.
Vernon's Happy Hogan
is the subject
of this example, graded Poor 1 by SGC due to heavy creasing and some paper loss near the text on the front. However, the
scarcity of this issue far outweighs any cosmetic flaws on
this example.
SGC has only ever graded 4 total examples of this E136,
with only ONE receiving a higher grade than the Poor 1 offered here of Vernon's Happy Hogan.
