1912 saw two distinct issues from Collins-McCarthy, with Home Run Kisses
being the toughest of the two by far. These cards are wildly attractive, sporting a "satin"
finish of a sepia player photo inside a beautifully ornate border design. Since the cards were intended to be redeemed for "valuable premiums," they are quite scarce today.
Vernon's Leonard Burrell is the subject
of this example, graded Fair 1.5 by SGC due to some slight diamond cutting and a horizontal crease running the width of the card just below Burrell's knees. Rounded corners and edge wear are consistent with the grade, while some fingerprint soiling prominent in the card's blank background keeps it from grading higher than it has. However, the
scarcity of this issue far outweighs any cosmetic flaws on
this example.
SGC has only ever graded 5 total examples of this E136,
with only TWO receiving a higher grade than the Fair 1.5 offered here of Vernon's Leonard Burrell.
