DeLong was one of several Boston based confectioners that issued small sets at the end of Prohibition. The format of the card - with a photograph of the player superimposed onto an illustration of a baseball stadium, making the subject look like a giant - is very unique and fun. DeLong managed to put out a classic set for their lone effort, with 14 of the 24 subjects included in this 1933 issue eventually ending up in the Hall of Fame - an envious batting average by any measure.

Lon Warneke is one of the 10 who didn't get a plaque in Cooperstown, though he was a 5-time All-Star and won the ERA title in 1932. Warneke is the subject of this example with great centering. Fantastic corners and edges and brilliant colors give this one tremendous eye appeal. A very slight registration error keeps this one from grading even higher than it already has.

PSA has only ever graded 115 total examples of this 1933 DeLong, with only three receiving a higher grade than the NM+ 7.5 offered here of Lon Warneke.
