Bert Cunningham pitched in 120
games for the Baltimore Orioles of the American Association between 1888
and 1891. He went 49-62, completing 100 of the 109 games he started.
Cunningham has five different
cards in
the N172 set. This
issue - which depicts the Baltimore pitcher with a ball in his hands
which he holds chest high getting ready to pitch - is the most rare.
The right edge of the card (especially near the top) has been cut slightly irregularly, which makes it appear at quick glance as if there is diamond cutting. However, the rest of the borders are centered nicely, and when looked at from a distance, it is clear that the irregular cut impacts just one corner. A faint wrinkle is visible on the card's surface, which is otherwise very clean. The printing is light, but all text and the entirety of the image is still clearly visible. Corner wear and the aforementioned wrinkle keeps the card from a higher holder.
